Our Story

After living abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, Ariana Parrish was determined to bring the same sense of community and belonging to Baltimore. Inspired by the happiest city on earth, Nosreme nurtures connections by supporting the culture-builders of society: chefs and artists.

What We Do

Today, we host a mosaic of events around Baltimore that enable local chefs and artists to get involved, such as pop-up restaurants with a unique art element. We aspire to reach as many art aficionados, foodies, and creatives as we can, turning strangers into friends. As we visit different neighborhoods, we’re gauging each event’s response to choose our brick-and-mortar location.

Through donations and event fees, we are building momentum for our long-term vision…

Tomorrow, we plan to establish a brick-and-mortar location. There, our resident chefs and artists will have community dinners, participate in international exchange trips, run unique classes, and host activities such as storytelling or chess. Together, we will usher in a brighter future for Baltimore.

Our goal is to establish our location by 2027 with short and long-term housing for (10) residents.

What Inspires Us

Vision

To create community-building social experiences at the crossroads of art and food.

Mission

To connect Baltimoreans, local creatives, and international artists with newfound opportunities that inspire our communities.

Values

We believe in making everyone feel seen, shining light on the unique stories underscoring Baltimore, and bridging the gaps between food, art, and community.

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail.”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

From Humble Beginnings.

Inspired by an early exploration of transcendentalism during a middle-school English assignment, our namesake Nosreme is “Emerson” spelled backward. As Ariana Parrish wrote her architecture thesis at Temple University, she was intrigued by the premise of a communal space woven with alternative societal experiences.

Raised with a spirit of volunteerism in the heart of Baltimore, Ariana Parrish found herself getting involved with the American Red Cross, Big Brother Big Sisters of America, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and many other altruistic organizations. As an African American woman who has traveled to over 30 countries, her experiences in Copenhagen inspired her next chapter of volunteerism. There, ‘hygge’ (the idea of being comfortable and cozy) and ‘fællesspisning’ (the concept of community eating) set her vision for Nosreme into motion.

Your donation will help share these experiences throughout the City of Baltimore.
