The Pop-Up Series.

Food, art, and a neighborhood. Every installment is its own project.

Each installment pairs a Baltimore artist with a venue, a meal, and a neighborhood story. They're installments in a growing project, each one building on the last.

The series launched in 2022 at R. House. Seven installments later, it's a recurring part of how Nosreme works: programmed independently, tied into commission projects, and increasingly produced in partnership with institutions that want to bring this format to their own spaces.

Why a series

The idea comes from Copenhagen, where shared meals are civic infrastructure, and from the Transcendentalists, who believed ideas are sharper in rooms where people eat together. The Pop-Up Series carries both traditions into Baltimore.

The format

A Baltimore artist

One we're actively working with or featuring.

A place

A venue, a neighborhood, a moment in the life of a project.

A meal

Curated, culturally specific, and tied to the artist or the place.

A gathering

Typically 40–150 people. Intimate enough to feel like a room, large enough to feel like a moment.

What makes it work is that none of these elements is decoration. The food is art. The venue is as important as the guest list. The conversation that happens in the room is the output.
